People not conforming to gender norms face various forms of discrimination including violence and homicide, in and outside of Germany. At the same time, there are many groups resisting transphobia and fighting for a right of gender/sexual self-determination. The strategies may vary according to political traditions and the local context. We have invited activists from different groups and locations to inform us about their activities. We want to discuss together how the interests of trans*people and non-binary identities can be pursued internationally.

Discussants (in English and with sign language interpretation):

Majda & Andjela (Queer Beograd). Performers and activists, involved in the initiation and organisation of the Queer Beograd Festival held yearly since 2005. Some of the Queer Beograd Collective played a key role in this year's Belgrade Pride.

Aykan Safoğlu. Since 2006, he has been a member of Lambdaistanbul and since 2008 an active member of GLADT. Aykan has also served as editor of the magazine KAOS GL and is part of the anti-violence project SUSPECT.

Ammo Recla is project leader of ABqueer since 2005. His main interests are queer theory / politics, sexual pedagogy, management of volunteers and networking. Besides ABqueer he is gardening, looking for happiness, keeps busy with political engagement, cinema and diving.
